FAIR PLAY, NOT POLITICAL GAMES!

Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. Sport can awaken hope where there was previously only despair. Sport speaks to people in a language they can understand. – Nelson Mandela

Study after study demonstrates that inclusive access to sports and play leads to better outcomes for students and schools.

When school sports include transgender athletes, engagement is stronger for all girls. One 2021 report states that, in California, where trans youth have been allowed to play on teams in line with their gender identity since 2014, high school girls’ sports participation was the highest it has ever been in 2020, increasing by almost 14% since 2014.  https://www.self.com/story/advocating-for-trans-girls-sports

ALL youth deserve to benefit from participation in sports!

This parent of a youth trans athlete says: "If you could see my daughter playing volleyball, you would know how happy it makes her, and you wouldn’t dream of taking it away from her. She has learned that we all make mistakes and that’s how we learn. She has learned to face challenges, brush off setbacks and stay focused on what is coming next, not what just happened. She is not the fastest, strongest or best player on her team. But she is part of the team; and that means everything to her."

NOT FAIR PLAY, BUT A POLITICAL ATTACK RUN BY BILLIONAIRES

The same politicians sponsoring out of town groups to bully transgender kids off of sports teams are rigging the rules for billionaires, making all but the wealthiest families fight for scholarship scraps. Let's fully fund our schools and communities and make higher education more affordable, so all our kids, transgender or not, can pursue their dreams on the field and off.

Bad for everyone: Policies that exclude certain students also open the door to abuse.

Politically-motivated policies that exclude the tiny minority of trans and gender-expansive youth from participating in sports require the unacceptable and intrusive policing of ALL children's bodies. Compliance means "proving" one's sex through physical checks, and legally-sanctioned bigotry means that anyone could accuse a youth of being "transgender" due to their size, strength, or skill, and expose our kids to terrible violations of their privacy and autonomy.

This is the opposite of fair play!
